World of Hunger

I have noticed that I often use the the idea of hunger to describe life. So I chose some poems that I thought reflected that Hunger.

Heart of Hell

Why should it be noble?
For me to feed your hunger
For me to cry my tears for you
To gaze at you in wonder
I’ll leave you, in such hunger
Lose you around the bend
Or should I take your life away
Leave you softly like a friend
Or should I quench your thirst for life
Feed your hunger for sorrow
Give to you, my heart and soul
Leave nothing for tomorrow
Should I share with you?
The thought that all is well
Or show my loveliness without
Or my heart that’s full of hell
Live life as though it is not yours
For it never really was
It was borrowed from the lord
Follow all his foolish laws
The heaven waiting up above
Spits at your heart of hell
You used my evil heart for good
And now nothing is well

The Apple

The snake tells god
To show his face
For with temptation
He has lured
The woman into
An eternal hell
He whispers in God's ear
All the secrets he has kept
Of the image of god
In Eve, and in Adam
For god must show
His face once more
Must let his voice be heard
Accept the one flaw
Within himself
Which he created in Eve
God picks up the apple in his Eden
And he eats it
Slowly
Thoughtfully
Wondering of the world
He has built
He loves
And yet
He no longer understands
Thinking of
All the trials of the world
Of all temptation
Of all evil
Of the human heart
And soul
But even he knows
That it doesn’t change
The fact
That the apple
Is no longer whole

No

No I guess
No
Yeah
I'm sure its no
No to this
No to everything else
No to all that I've
Held back
That now she says
To let forth from my eyes
To let go from the chains
The chains in my eyes
But I say no
I say no to the chains
When they think of letting go
I say no
No, no, no
It’s been so hard
It’s been too long
And I've been waiting
Waiting till I'm completely alone
Which I've never been
I wont let them go
All those thoughts
I'll not let them escape
Not through my eyes
They are mine to keep
Not hers to steal
Not her’s to want
Not her’s to keep
They are mine
And I'll not let them go
From my eyes
Onto her shelf
Of things escaped
That she unroped
That she let loose
The shelf of dreams
She'll never lose
But she won’t care
She’ll let them loose
And from her eyes
They won’t escape
For the thoughts
They like it there
For her tears
Are not to share
Escaping from
Her empty eyes
They are her pride
Her well-earned Prize

Consumption

My chest, it feels the emptiness within
In due course I'd hoped it might have gone
I'm moving everything under my skin
Hoping it will rise and leave like dawn
But still I smile, a twinkle in my eye
And let those who are empty feast on me
They eat my smiles and laughs like cherry pie
And snack on words like apples from a tree
Like cookies, they sneak words off of my tongue
And take pleasure in the goodness of my soul
Chewing on my thoughts like bubble-gum
They eat my emptiness with spoons and bowls
I look into my future and see me
Lonely I am, though I may be wed
Though all around they say that they love me
It's only 'caus I've kept them warmly fed
But soon I see the emptiness will grow
Leaving me with only smiles to give
The twinkle in my eyes does not burn low
But soon I see my soul will cease to live
I chain my lovely thoughts within myself
Though I may appear so wild and free
I lay my hunger down on some old shelf
And let the ever empty consume me

once again, you amaze me with your way with words. "her well-earned prize" i like that a lot. i think we're all hungry for something and for whatever reason just can't be satisfied. but i think the hunger makes it so much sweeter when we finally get what we want. and if we don't, then i guess that's now what was meant for us. destiny has been coming up a lot lately around me and i'm pondering it.

is there fate? is there destiny? are we running around making "decisions" that some all knowing creature decided we'd make or are we really shaping our lives? i have no idea.
