The Devil's Lover
The words that I speak are not mine
They are borrowed for the time
And the life that I want is a sin
Though repentance will never begin
And the devil looks at me with love
For the earth and the heavens above
Are all of the things that he dreams of
And though he does and will hate love
He craves it from my me and my flesh
For my soul and his soon will mesh
And will disappear in the morning
When he has deemed it all boring
Leaving me with only sorrow
And a craving for tomorrow
When he will love me for my sakeAnd what connects us all will break
They are borrowed for the time
And the life that I want is a sin
Though repentance will never begin
And the devil looks at me with love
For the earth and the heavens above
Are all of the things that he dreams of
And though he does and will hate love
He craves it from my me and my flesh
For my soul and his soon will mesh
And will disappear in the morning
When he has deemed it all boring
Leaving me with only sorrow
And a craving for tomorrow
When he will love me for my sakeAnd what connects us all will break
